My favorite spot for Chinese food in Denver. The twice cooked fish, salty fish fried rice, and eggplant with garlic sauce are at the top of the menu for me. The chef and his wife get their Szechuan peppercorns directly from China. There's a reason this restaurant has so many regulars who come time after time.

When we heard that Noodles Express was going to close, my friends and I were like we must visit. It's a truly hole in the wall restaurant. From the outside, it doesn't look really impressive and the interior isn't a standout. Service is pretty meh but nothing shocking. But the food is actually the reason why you should visit. The food is really good. Everything we ordered was pretty flavorful. There's a spice with most of the dishes we ordered so while one dish may not be spicy, it can add up when you have multiple dishes. My favorite was the fried pork intestine. That was so delicious and tasty. It was crispy. I'm craving them as I write this. Possibly one of the better intestines place in Colorado. If you're not adventurous, I still recommend them because it just tastes like pork belly.

I am hoping against hope that this place doesn't get shut down at the end of this month. We only recently learned about Noodles Express and have made a point to visit every chance we get between now and then. Just amazing Szechuan food here, and wonderful, friendly owners to boot. The Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and the Twice Cooked fish live in my dreams. I haven't had Chinese food this good since Little Chengdu closed under similar circumstances a few years ago. GO WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!

I'm already in mourning as their upcoming closure at the end of August looms closer. Authentic Chinese food is hard to come by as it is without trekking it out further south. I heard the landlord is making the rent unsustainable for them so the owners decided this would be a good time to retire. I plan on eating there as much as I can till then. Food overall: Szechuan style with a few Americanized options. Flavorful. Comes in generous portions. Favorites from the past two years stopping by here. -Pork intestine with sour cabbage - I enjoy the sour and salty flavor profile mixed in my rice. -Chongqing pepper chicken - very happy with how much szechuan peppercorn they put in. I like pairing every bite of chicken with it. -Eggplant with garlic sauce - they managed to keep the texture and purple color. No soggy eggplant here. -Pan-fried green beans - crunchy texture. Not too salty. Vibe: Small to medium ish. Casual. Service: Very nice and polite. Price: Reasonable for the portion size.

Authentic Sichuan food. One of the few in the Denver metro. Tried a bunch of different dishes and they were all excellent.

We stepped in during the afternoon one day. The place was completely empty! Someone came out and warmly greeted us and told us we could sit at any table. The food: we started off with some egg rolls, they were crispy and well cooked 5/5. Next up were the Dan Dan noodles. They were quite good and packed with flavor. 4/5. It was pretty good food and warm service, all be it a bit pricey per dish.

Excellent! I've tried a few things, nothing has been bad. Also, even the "spicy" food isn't super spicy...I have a fairly low spice tolerance, and a few of the dishes with heat have been fine even with my fairly low spice tolerance! Twice cooked fish - amazing. I'm not big on fish, and this is one of my favorite things I've eaten this year. Dan dan noodles - Excellent. I've tried Dan dan noodles three places, and this place had the least spicy dan dan noodles (maybe 2/10 spicy). Additionally, there were way more toppings than at other restaurants, so this version of the dish is something that you won't find in other restaurants. Spicy boiled fish - I'd say medium on the heat scale...maybe 4/10. Very good. Homestyle pork noodles - Not at all spicy. I didn't love them, but I don't have anything bad to say about them, they just weren't exceptional like the others. Mapo tofu - not my favorite mapo tofu I've had. Not bad, but again, not amazing like some of the other dishes. Maybe 5/10 spicy - a little too hot for me. I've only ever gotten carry out, and the food is always ready really quickly. Additionally, there's a warmth from the employees that I really appreciate. I've never really chatted with them, but even cooks who walk by will say thank you with was feels like a really genuine warmth, and it adds to the positive experience.

You have probably passed this establishment dozens of times on your way to Target or Home Depot. It sits a little bit back on Colorado Blvd by itself in a strip mall. The name, "Noodle Express" does not do the restaurant or the menu justice. And while there is a section on the menu dedicated to "American Favorites" you are doing yourself a disservice unless you sample some of well-prepared and authentic Szechuan dishes. Tongue-numbing goodness, yes. Think fish boiled in chili oil, Dan Dan Noodles, beef noodle soup. If you like fish try the dried fish fried rice: a salty and savory flavor bomb. The eggplant and chicken was the best we can remember with a texture and smokiness only achievable on a very hot wok. This seems like a family-run joint and everyone was welcoming and so friendly. We have found a new go-to spot to get our chili-on.
